A Defense of God’s Law: Interview with Stan Eash

Last evening, I taped an interview with my father for A Defense of God’s Law. My father deserves much respect for his commitment to the Word of God as our standard for all areas of life. He contributed some good thoughts on a very crucial aspect in our study of God’s law. The film would be lacking one very important element if this interview had not been recorded. I’m sure the viewers will agree once they see the finished film later this year.

Preproduction work is nearing completion, and I expect to be shooting the remainder of the film in August. Look for A Defense of God’s Law to be released on DVD sometime this fall.

I’ll Never Make That Mistake Again!

Today I wanted to do something special for my brother Shad who has been helping me with my film project, A Defense of God’s Law. For a special treat, I decided to take him to a local restaurant for lunch. We have lived in our small town for eleven years, but we never had tried this particular restaurant to see what it was like. We figured it was about time to visit this restaurant to see if their sign correctly states, “Good food, great prices.”

Well, they are right about that. The food was good, with reasonable prices. We both ordered a cheese steak sandwich, which was a lunch special that came with fries and a dessert. That was a pretty good deal.

I liked the cozy feel of the restaurant. It’s the kind of place where the waitress knows all the regulars by name. Just the kind of small town restaurant I’ve dreamed about.

However, it was a big mistake to visit that place. I will not go back to that place unless they make some changes. The floor was rather dirty and some corners were filled with spider webs, but the worst problem was the smoky smell. Being a very small restaurant, it only takes one smoker to fill the entire place with an overwhelming smoky stench.

If they would keep that restaurant clean and make it a smoke-free facility, I might actually return to that place someday. In any case, that’s a mistake I won’t make again!

If I owned a restaurant, I would do everything I could to make sure it was kept in good shape. As Christians, we should always do our best in everything we do. Do it as unto the Lord. I think we should apply this principle to every area of life and every industry of business. I don't own a restaurant, but I do own a media production company. As such, it's my policy to always strive for quality in our films. I believe a poorly made film can be as appalling as a restaurant that is dirty and smoky. They demonstrate carelessness, and perhaps even laziness. We should do better as Christians to bring glory to God by doing our best, whatever our occupation.

Do You Like Suspenseful Movies? Here's One For You!

Rich Christiano has received very good feedback from people who have seen his film, Unidentified. I have not yet seen the film, but from what I hear, it’s a very suspenseful movie with a strong evangelistic message. For those who love suspenseful, thriller type movies, this one could be a winner!

The film centers around two news reporters who are assigned to investigate mysterious UFO sightings. What are people really seeing out there? Is it all a hoax? What is the Christian response to the UFO phenomena? I guess we’ll have to see Unidentified to find out! Visit the official movie website to find out when the film will come to your local theater.

Sound Effects in the Bible

We all know about the time baseball was mentioned in the Bible. Genesis 1:1, “In the big inning...” (paraphrase) Some of us have heard that Aaron had a hot rod; he drug his rod across the desert. We may even remember that the disciples of Jesus had an automobile. Acts 1:14, “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication...” (emphasis added)

Many people have heard about these examples cited above, but how many have heard that sound effects were used in the Bible? This is one that really happened!

In II Kings 6, the Syrians besieged Samaria, and the Israelites in the city were dying of starvation. The LORD chose to intervene by creating an impressive sound effects collection.

II Kings 7:5, “And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the
Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there. (vs. 6) For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come
upon us.” (emphasis added)
Not surprisingly, God’s sound effects were very convincing – the Syrians fled the camp, leaving everything behind, including food and other provisions. God certainly has His own creative ways of preserving His people in their time of need. We need not worry about whether we can put food on the table or clothes on our backs. Jesus promised to provide these needs if we follow one conditions:

Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
All our needs will be provided by God if we seek His kingdom and righteousness before all else. God doesn’t promise to provide all our wants (or perceived needs), but He has promised to provide what we truly need. Isn’t our God great?

The Biblical Origins of the Three Branches of Government

Have you ever wondered why the Founding Fathers of America gave us three branches of government? According to noted historian, David Barton, the Founders discovered the idea of three branches of government in Isaiah 33:22. I think you’ll find the judicial, legislative, and executive branches identified very clearly in this verse:

Isaiah 33:22 “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is
our king; he will save us.”
Isn’t it amazing that our form of government was based on Scripture, but today we are told that we need to keep the Bible out of politics? If we are to restore America to her godly heritage, we must begin by remembering her godly heritage. We can’t restore America to a heritage we know nothing about! Let’s each do our part to help America remember; please do your part by passing this along.

Atheism: An Irrational Nonsense

“...non-believers cannot make reason reasonable in a universe that is taken to be non-rational in its origin and government; they cannot make sensation sensible in a universe that is thought to be senseless; neither can they tell us why common sense is so common given their commitment to randomness.” (“Dos Moi Pou Sto: Give Me Somewhere to Stand” by Anthony Rogers, an article that appeared in the July 2006 edition of Biblical Worldview Magazine.)
The fact is that non-believers in general and atheists in particular operate on borrowed territory–they borrow rational, Christian presuppositions to form their irrational philosophies and ideas. They try to use logic to prove there is no God, but logic cannot be accounted for in an atheist universe (as Greg Bahnsen so ably pointed out). How can there be something as absolute as logic if the universe is merely the result of random chance processes? This is a question that atheists cannot answer. Any attempt at a logical answer results in the atheist being backed into a corner.

One day, every atheist will come to realize that Christianity is the only logical, rational option. Hopefully they will come to that realization on this side of eternity.
