What's Cooking at SEM?

Sorry for neglecting to write for so long. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have been unable to devote much time to blogging. I’m going to try to do better in the future to keep y’all informed of what’s going on here at SEM.

So much has happened that I don’t know where to begin! After the release of our bestselling film A Defense of God’s Law in May, we published a companion study guide in July. Though on the surface it seems like nothing else has happened, in reality much has happened behind the scenes. I am now putting the finishing touches on my new book, God’s Plan for Civil Government. We expect to have this book in stock by mid-October! In addition to writing this book, I have been making a lot of decisions concerning the future of SEM. What will be our goals for 2008...and beyond? Right here’s the place to stay informed of what cooking at Scott Eash Multimedia!

Dr. D. James Kennedy: A Remarkable Man

This morning, we lost a great man who led the fight to reclaim America for Christ. Dr. D. James Kennedy went home to be with the Lord today at around 3 am. His passing comes as a shock to many of us who have benefited from his commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God. What can I say about this man that has been motivating and equipping Christians since before I was born? How can I summarize the wide sweeping influence of this remarkable man? He sought to motivate Christians to transform our culture rather than just sitting back to let the pagans win. He even encouraged Christians to get involved in the political process as a part of our duty as Christians. He received his share of flak for this, but I don’t doubt that he was right to take that stand.

One of his strengths was his ability to harness the media to present the message of the Gospel. He effectively used TV and radio to reach into millions of homes across the world. Dr. Kennedy’s radio broadcast “Truths That Transform” has had a powerful influence on countless individuals, including myself. With such guest speakers as Francis Schaeffer, Gary DeMar, Ken Ham, Paul Jehle, and Ray Comfort, the impact and life-changing influence of that program is inestimable.

Dr. Kennedy had suffered a “v-tach” back in December. A “v-tach” is a type of heart rhythm that cannot sustain life. His wife had to perform CPR before the paramedics arrived. During the entire ordeal, his brain was without a good supply of oxygen for a few minutes which resulted in permanent brain damage. Ever since that day in December, Dr. Kennedy was unable to preach from his pulpit at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. Due to his failing health, his retirement was announced on August 26.

Now with his passing, Dr. Kennedy’s legacy will no doubt continue to influence and impact the lives of millions across the world.
