Back from the Witherspoon School of Law

I just arrived home today after a glorious week in Fredericksburg, VA for the Witherspoon School of Law & Public Policy. It was truly a blessing from the Lord to be there and to drink in vast amounts of information from wise men like Doug Phillips, William Einwechter, Col. John Eidsmoe, Roy Moore (and others)!

Visit Life Through a Viewfinder to see some photos from the conference.

Now Available from SEM Distribution

Do these films look familiar? If you attended the 2006 and 2007 SAICFF, you may recognize these award-winning films- The White Handkerchief and Angel of Love. What you may not know is that these films were never formally released to the public on DVD...until now! Now, both films are available on this special combo DVD.

Stephen Kendrick said The White Handkerchief is "A touching modern day parable of the prodigal son."

The Widow's Might

The latest HeuMoore project, 'The Widow's Might' is now in preproduction, and very soon will be in full swing with the filming process. Now is the time for you to support this project!

Their last film, 'Heartstrings', was a tremendous hit... In just a few short months, Heartstrings won the prestigious Audience Choice award at the largest Christian Film Festival in the world, and has become the second highest rated film on all of ChristianBook.com; competing against 6,200 other films.

Now, HeuMoore is gearing up for it's biggest, most powerful film yet; The Widow's Might. Another adventure in the lives of the Siblings cast, The Widow's Might tells an important and touching story about an elderly Widow, and several families defending her most cherished earthly treasure. WidowsMightTheMovie.com has a short promotional teaser with some facts about the film.

Advent Film Group Spins Off New Production Company

Using an innovative "church-planting" model for feature filmmaking, Advent Film Group (AFG) has spun off a new film production company, Brightline Pictures, led by Manny Edwards, who co-produced and co-directed AFG's upcoming movie, "Come What May", along with George Escobar. Brightline Pictures has begun pre-production of "Take Two", a romantic comedy using marriage as a metaphor for being born-again. Brightline recently received development funds for "Take Two" and is scheduling production for late fall 2008 in Valdosta, Georgia, as additional investment funds are raised.

George Escobar is quite an innovator. His "coopetition" approach to filmmaking is a breath of fresh air. At the CHAP Convention, I talked to him about some of his future projects. Exciting!

Oh, and contrary to popular opinion, Mr. Escobar does not leave his pair of headphones around his neck everywhere he goes. I just thought I would clear that up.

Back from the CHAP Convention

Some of my readers may be wondering why I have been posting so infrequently of late. Well, I had been making preparations to be a vendor at the CHAP Convention last weekend. (not to mention the preparations for an upcoming book release. But more on that later.) Now that the convention is over, I can bring you all up to date.

Here are some pictures of our "Biblical Worldview Media" table.

For some odd reason, convention attendees wanted to discuss politics, the "KJV only" controversy, and Calvinism! Perhaps it's because our company is called Biblical Worldview Media. Or maybe this book (our convention bestseller) got them started. Oh well. I guess it's to be expected.

One gentleman was quite interested in the Inherently Wind DVD. As we talked for awhile about the Scopes Trial, this man told me that his great-uncle was Clarence Darrow!

Our booth was visited by some friends and VIPs, including Steve Murphy (publisher of Homeschooling Today), Tim Horn (of Vision Forum) and George Escobar (of Advent Film Group).

Here's a picture of my able assistant, Joseph Musser.

Overall, I believe we had a successful first time at CHAP. We learned a lot, sold some products, handed out hundreds of flyers, saw some friends, and met some new ones. I'm looking forward to next year!

3D DVD?

The DVD Forum is planning to study the possibility of incorporating 3D technology into the DVD format specifications. In other words, they want to figure out if DVDs can be made to somehow capitalize on the current 3D craze.

Isn't that interesting? More Americans avoid going to theaters since they have superb home theater systems. So movie studios and theaters combat that trend by offering 3D movies. The idea was to draw people out of their home theaters to the movie theaters once again. I wonder what would happen if 3D DVDs suddenly became common?

Patience Is a Virtue

We interrupt this silence to bring you a brief announcement. This blog is not dead.

There is much more to come...later. Please have patience as I work on some exciting projects behind the scenes. We are exhibiting at two conferences this month; we will soon launch a special Mother's Day promotion; and we are releasing a new book at the beginning of June! I'll be writing about all these things here soon. Also, I will continue the movie distribution series with part 4.
